International Traineeship

Students can complete the international traineeship in three variations:

1.Attending an international conference

Students apply for an international conference that fits their research interests and share their work through an oral presentation or poster. They screen the program and select interesting sessions. They can also read background literature from selected speakers and prepare questions. Students are supposed to attend the entire conference (2 or 3 days on average).

2.Attending a summer school

Students select a summer school that fits the methodological requirements of their research and their future career aspirations. If necessary, they write a motivation letter and/or obtain references. As preparation, they read the recommended background literature and/or prepare their own data for use during the summer school. Students attend all lectures and complete all assignments.

3.Conducting research abroad

Students identify a foreign lab that conducts state-of-the-art research in their research area. If necessary, they write a motivation letter and/or obtain references. They read relevant background articles suggested by the foreign host as preparation and agree on a working plan with their supervisor. They regularly meet with this supervisor and participate in the daily activities of the host lab.
