What is your role/position in the IDA program?
I’m supervising internal traineeships.
How long have you been teaching?
For approximately 1.5 years.
What do you like about teaching?
I enjoy interacting with students and learning how they think about different topics. I enjoy the potential to contribute to the knowledge and growth of new generations.
What is the reason you became a researcher?
I started because I was interested to learn more about the people and the world around me. I really liked the ideas of being able to go out into the World and answer the questions I have and discover new insights and ideas.
What is the most fascinating about human beings to you?
It fascinates me how resilient human beings are and how capable they are of adapting to new circumstances and overcoming challenges.
Are there times where you doubt researching or university?
Sometimes I wonder if the research I do has impact and if I am making a change in the world. This I think pushes me to be proactive in making this impact myself and push to integrate my work in practice. I also see that things are changing slowly in how much impact is valued in academia, with universities, and funding bodies emphasizing impact.
What makes IDA students unique?
IDA students are highly motivated and independent, when they focus on a topic that interests them, they are driven to dive into the topic and research it thoroughly. They are also analytical and critical thinker, discussing issues and bringing up different perspectives and ideas.
If you could change something in the university setting what would you change?
Creating more individualized trajectories for academic employees’ development based on their interests and talents.
What advice would you give future IDA students?
Remain open to different development and work opportunities that might come up.
What is a collaborative project that you liked and worked with an IDA student on?
I worked with a student to review the literature on AI and HRM and identify the gaps in that I could focus on in the future.
How are you experiencing the teacher-student relationship in the IDA program?
I have found it to be a nice relationship so far, I like that the IDA students take charge but also remain open to the input and ideas.
If you are not teaching or doing research, what else do you like doing in your personal time?
I enjoy cooking, swimming, reading books and watching movies.
Is there anything we missed and you would like to share? This can also be something personal e.g. a motto.
