Ever wondered what alumni do after IDA, and where they end up in life?
IDA now has a total of 72 alumni, here are some statistics about them!
Most of our alumni choose to pursue a PhD: among those who graduated in or before 2024, 70% are currently PhD candidates or have completed a PhD.
About half of these positions are at Tilburg University, while others are spread across the Netherlands, Europe, and beyond.

Note: Out of 72 IDA alumni, 48 are pursuing or have pursued a PhD (shown here).
However, not everyone follows the same path: some pursue a PhD, others don’t! While many alumni stay in academia and pursue (postdoctoral) research, teaching, or policy advisor roles, others move into the private sector, working as data analysts, HR development specialists, or research analysts. Some ever work for the Dutch Military or Government, and of course, a number pursue clinical careers.

Note: this graph represents all 72 IDA alumni.
A truly exceptional path taken by an alumni, is that of a 2019 graduate who was selected as a Topklas (Top-class) candidate, a highly selective and prestigious track. She is currently following a 6-year combined training as a GZ (healthcare) and a clinical psychologist, alongside a PhD track at GGZ Oost-Brabant, uniquely bridging clinical practice and scientific research. This trajectory reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the IDA program, and the range of opportunities available after IDA.
