What inspired you to pursue the IDA Master program?

I found a passion in sexology and this field still lacks a lot of good research. When I thought about what topics and questions still need to be investigated I couldn’t wait to start working on this and so the opportunities that the IDA program provides allow me to develop this passion.

What motivates you to pursue this field of study, and what personal significance or purpose do you find in it?

Sexuality has the potential to be experienced by an individual as something so beautiful, yet for too many people it manifests as something terrible due to shame and stigma, repression or negative experiences such as abuse. With more education and research on these topics, I believe there is a lot that can be gained.

Looking at the program schedule, which course(s) are you most excited about and why?

The master thesis, I just can’t wait to put everything we learn into practice and actually do research.

What motivates you to keep going when things get tough?

Although it can be frustrating, things getting tough is the best indicator that you’re learning.

How would you describe an “IDA Student”? What common qualities do they share, and who do you think is best suited for this program?

Driven, this can be by a specific passion, like in my case, but also by a general curiosity to learn.

Is there anything you wish you had known before starting that would have made your journey smoother, and what advice (or tip) would you give to someone just beginning the program?

This program offers amazing opportunities, but this can come with a lot of pressure. Keeping your own mental health in check is probably the most important thing to do.
