When did you do the IDA master?

2022-2024

How was the IDA Master helpful for what you are doing right now?

IDA has a really strong focus on pro-activity and independence. I find myself much more confident in networking and also taking up responsibilities and tasks. I’m excited to get the chance to put my acquired skills to the test once I find a suitable job or PhD position!

What was your favorite course? And why?

This is a hard question since many courses were unique in their own way. Whilst the optional elective “Individual Differences in Work” (i forgot the exact name) isn’t my specific topic of interest, I really enjoyed the lectures, assignments, presentations, and the field trip!

What was your favorite moment of the time as an IDA student?

I’d have to say the first couple of months of IDA were my favourite moments. Whilst it was stressful, it was such a bombardment if new and interesting information, not to mention being introduced to the other students and staff of IDA.

What was your motivation to finish your studies ?

The satisfaction of learning new skills as well as putting those skills to the test into complex projects which you put all your energy into is what drove me to finish my studies.

Did you experience stress or pressure in your studies, and if yes how did you deal with it?

There is definitely some stress and pressure during IDA, especially as someone who also moved away from their home country for the first time. Leaving time for my hobbies and not beating yourself up over procrastinating helped me deal with the pressure, but I think everyone deals with pressure and stress differently

What can you advise current or future IDA students?

Know your limits! Don’t force yourself to take on too much, but don’t be passive either.

How was your overall experience in the master?

It was a challenging learning experience in many ways besides simply learning how to research.

What did you do in your international traineeship and how did you like it?

I went to a conference in Berlin with some colleagues from my cohort, it was a nice time and surprisingly not intimidating being around many experienced academics

Are you still in touch with other alumni students?

Yes but we technically haven’t had our graduation ceremony yet so that much is obvious! But I do intend to keep in touch with my fellow alumni

How did you experience the relationship with your teachers?

Teachers were welcoming and cared about our learning as well as how they can improve themselves. Every teacher was also unique in their style, forcing you to adapt to their teaching/supervision style

Did you know from the beginning what you want to do after your master? How did you find out what you would like to do?

I had no idea what I wanted to do after the Master, and Im still not entirely sure! I believe the best way to find out is to go out and try, which is what I’m currently doing 🙂
