What inspired you to pursue the IDA Master program?

I was inspired to pursue the IDA Master program because I really liked its structure and the flexibility it offers. I appreciate that there is a lot of freedom to choose courses and explore my own interests, and of course I enjoy the focus on research within the program.

Which field do you see yourself pursuing after completing the program?

I hope to continue in academia and further develop myself as a researcher.

Do you ever feel stressed or under pressure in your studies? How do you manage those challenges? Any tips to share?

I do feel stressed at times. At first, I tried to deal with everything on my own, but I realised that asking for help is often necessary. One important thing I have learned is that there is nothing wrong with doing so. Other students understand what you are going through, and professors and staff have a lot of experience with students facing similar challenges. My main tip would be not to hesitate to reach out when things start to feel overwhelming.

What do you enjoy most about collaborating with your peers, supervisors, or being part of the IDA community?

I enjoy all aspects of being part of the IDA community, but especially working closely with supervisors. It is very motivating to collaborate so directly and to have supervisors who actively think along with us.

How would you describe your relationship with the faculty in the IDA program? How does this influence your learning experience?

I would describe it as very positive. Everyone has been approachable and willing to help, which has made a big difference in my learning experience. It has made me feel comfortable asking questions and discussing my own ideas and views, something that I would not feel as comfortable with before.

How would you describe an “IDA student”? What common qualities do they share, and who do you think is best suited for this program?

IDA students are very diverse, but they all share an interest in research. Looking at my own cohort I would say that a typical IDA student is hardworking, critical, and a little bit stubborn 🙂

Is there anything you wish you had known before starting that would have made your journey smoother, and what advice (or tip) would you give to someone just beginning the program?

I would say listen to all the advice you can get, but be able to pick out what works best for you. Trust the second-year students, and do not be afraid to ask for help or guidance when you need it.
