When did you do the IDA master?

2022-2024

How was the IDA Master helpful for what you are doing right now?

I am pursuing a PhD at the University of Amsterdam on the topic of AI and work design. The research master’s program provided me with the right theoretical, methodological, and statistical skills, which have helped me get to where I am today

What was your favorite course? And why?

My favorite courses were the four traineeships, where I gained skills relevant to the entire research cycle. The best part was being able to tailor the topics to my own interests and working closely with supervisors in personalized meetings

What was your favorite moment of the time as an IDA student?

The first-year paper presentations and master’s thesis presentations, as they allowed me to learn more about the topics my cohort was working on

What was your motivation to finish your studies ?

Being able to start a PhD

Did you experience stress or pressure in your studies, and if yes how did you deal with it?

Yes, especially during the first year. In every program, there are courses you enjoy and others that can be more challenging or less engaging. My strategy was to focus on the courses I enjoyed. I even started my first traineeship earlier than planned, which kept me motivated and, I believe, helped reduce the stress from other courses

What can you advise current or future IDA students?

Collaborate with each other! I was amazed at how much we learned from one another and how I developed new interests in topics I may not have considered on my own

How was your overall experience in the master?

I enjoyed it a lot! If I could go back two years, I would choose this program again without hesitation

What did you do in your international traineeship and how did you like it?

I visited the University of Southern Denmark as a visiting student and met multiple researchers working in my area of interest. I attended a half-day seminar and presented my proposal, Professional Identities and Work Design of Healthcare Professionals in an Artificial Intelligence-Enabled Workforce. The whole trip was amazing, but the most exciting part was meeting people from the healthcare sector to discuss real-life experiences with AI tools. I also had a wonderful time exploring both Copenhagen and Odense during my visit!

Are you still in touch with other alumni students?

Yes!

How did you experience the relationship with your teachers?

They are very supportive and truly encourage us to focus on what we really want. I’m grateful to have had the chance to discuss many ideas with them, which helped shape my focus

Did you know from the beginning what you want to do after your master? How did you find out what you would like to do?

I knew I wanted to pursue a PhD. However, my interest in AI and work design developed during my studies through a student assistant job on this topic. Additionally, the flexibility of the program—through traineeships, the first-year paper, and the master’s thesis—helped me identify what I am truly passionate about
