Why did you decide to do the IDA Master?
My interest in research initially drew me in. Also, the positive reviews from students, the high individual attention and small classes, and the freedom of choice on research topics were selling points.
Looking at the program schedule, which course excites you the most and why?
The traineeships are the most exciting since I’ll actually get to look into how it is to perform research and explore new topics with experienced researchers, which I’ve never done before.
Do you experience stress/pressure in your studies? How do you deal with it?
Yes, I cope by taking it step by step and building good habits slowly. I also make sure to keep up good physical health with a varied diet and exercise. Having a good connection with classmates is also a game changer because students support each other both emotionally and academically.
How can your knowledge from the IDA Master be useful for the real world?
Psychological research is an endless ocean of knowledge and potential, and it can lead positive change in the near or far future. In terms of individual differences, if we can understand what makes us different we can adjust the world for every individual, and help people celebrate differences as well as similarities.
Why do you think it is important to study what you study?
It is necessary that I build a solid foundation of research skills and theoretical knowledge to perform good research, which can be applied practically.
What is the most fascinating thing you have learned?
Understanding intelligence as a statistical construct rather than a real phenomena.
What motivates you to keep studying?
My future career, interesting lectures, social connections, and the comfort provided by university facilities.
How are you experiencing the relationship with your teachers?
It depends on the class. Larger classes create an environment, where it is more difficult to connect with a lecturer. However, since most lectures are smaller classes, the lecturers are very approachable and ready to help, as well as friendly.
