End of Year Conference 2026

The First Year Paper course consists of writing a research paper in the area of individual differences and assessment, under the supervision of an IDA staff member and using an existing dataset of one of their research projects. The students learn to identify a research question, review literature, analyze data, and write a concise and coherent paper. The First Year Paper course is concluded by the End of Year Conference, during which the students give a short presentation of their paper to second-year students, IDA alumni & staff, and future first-year students.

A week ago, on the 26th of May, the 2025-2027 cohort held their End of Year Conference, in which each student presented their First Year Paper. The conference consisted of two sets of presentations, with a “meet & greet” break in between. Future and current students, as well as IDA alumni, teachers, and staff, attended the conference, providing everyone with an opportunity to see what our first-year students have worked towards this year.

Each having a different supervisor and project, the students presented about a broad range of topics, including academic burnout and narcissism, sex and hormonal differences in fear conditioning, subjective well-being and major life events, as well as identity and trauma, and academic self-efficacy and talent use to name a few.

We would like to thank all the supervisors, our academic director Yvonne, and our course coordinator Meeke for making this event so memorable, and supporting the students in their research!

The day ended with some “drinks & bites”, to celebrate each successful presentation, and the end of the academic year approaching soon!
