Meet Jennifer Chen!

Why did you decide to do the IDA Master?

It’s a broad Research Master, and all the topics and skills that we’ll get to learn are very relevant.

Looking at the program schedule, which course excites you the most and why?

I’m excited for one of the applied elective courses, “Individual Differences, Personality and Health”.

Do you experience stress/pressure in your studies? How do you deal with it?

I do. So far I’ve been trying to set my own limits with regards to studying in order to still have time for working out, and other hobbies. I feel that this helps relieve some of the stress.

How can your knowledge from the IDA Master be useful for the real world?

The way humans differ from each other has a lot of implications for real world processes. Understanding individual differences better could help in areas such as socialising, therapy, work, and much more.

Why do you think it is important to study what you study?

I think it is still a relatively new research area, and it is important to empirically investigate these constructs to better understand humans (their past, present, and future).

What is the most fascinating thing you have learned?

The workings of physiological measurement methods.

What motivates you to keep studying?

I think the Master is challenging to the point that it motivates you to study, where you actually want to understand the material thoroughly.

How are you experiencing the relationship with your teachers?

It’s been great to have a closer relationship with the teachers, mainly because of the smaller groups. You get to learn the professors better, and get a better understanding of their expertise.
